Everyone is buzzing about the new spirituality people are embracing. About higher consciousness and alternative ways to help create more positive energy in our lives.
Thanksgiving is about good eating, about seeing family and old friends. A Feng Chic Thanksgiving is also about the positive energy which can be created on this day giving people a more emotionally fulfilling experience filled with fascinating memories.
The Thanksgiving event is also about the hostess and what she can do to create positive energy around herself while she is preparing. It’s about the table and how to use shapes, colors and Feng Chic philosophies to create a positive, more spiritual yet energized atmosphere at the table.
This is about Thanksgiving with a “soul”. A more spiritual (though not in the religious sense) meal which will create a very different experience for most. This is not the same old turkey dinner. Carole’s book agent refers to her as a “spiritual Martha Stewart”. She does it all – interior design, a line of Feng Chic products available online, writes, teaches, cooks but she does it all based on the 5000 year old tenets of Chinese Feng Shui.
The menu would be giving thanks to Mother Earth and translates earth elements to food. It is also very much about the colors of food. Color creates emotional reactions – positive or negative – which most people are not aware of.
For example a Sample Menu could be:
- Pumpkin puree soup served from a pumpkin:
Pumpkin color in Feng Shui is power and spiritual alignment with the earth. Yellow represents warmth; orange to brown tones represent earth, a grounding color to keep one centered and in balance. - Maple molasses baked beans:
Dark brown towards black is the earth which is the energy of water, the flow of life. - Carrot bread and corn bread stuffing:
Sun energy and wisdom. Orange for power. - Cranberries:
The color for love energy, but also the color for fire which is very intense and stimulating. Adding pineapple softens the fire element. Adding nuts bring in the element of wood for growth.
In Feng Shui it is believed that Foods of Certain Colors heal certain parts of the body. For example, the white meat of the turkey heals the lungs, green is for the liver, orange for the kidneys, red the heart and yellow the stomach.
Herbs and spices are important in the tenets of Fend Shui. Carole would give you the energy created by the use of cinnamon, thyme, bay leaf, rosemary, for example, and what they represent:
- Sage is purifying
- Pepper is the spice of life
- Basil is for awakening
- Peppermint stimulates
The table and how it is set represents a wonderful opportunity to capture the positive energy which Feng Shui produces. For example, a circle used with a square represents “heaven on earth”. The circle represents harmony and the square – earth and prosperity. Therefore, place mats could be square with round plates.
Regarding color, for example, reds should be avoided because they create heat energy and with a huge meal such as this the colors used should create cool. Reds also over stimulate and would not be good for a table with children. Yellow represents wisdom and sun. Green – health, longevity, growth and tranquility. Blue is good fortune and possibility. These colors in combination, as in a floral or plaid or used creatively in combination would create glorious energy pathways at the table.
Tips for the hostess:
- Place a small mirror behind the burners or on a side wall to bring abundance to your home.
- Yellow flowers in the kitchen will bring sunshine energy into the room which helps with balance.
- What she wears is also important. Green, yellow and earth tones will add more tranquility; pink, red will stimulate friendship and romance. Black represents water and can drain the energy.
To create union and welcome, Carole always has her phone out and asks guests to take each other’s picture. She uses these as place cards. They can also be used for an album. What they do is instantly give people something creative and fun to do and helps integrate any group of people.
This year let’s help with information to create a more spiritual, more energized holiday through Feng Chic. The perfect balance to create heaven on earth.
