Empower Yourself! Seasonal Tips from Carole

Think of this article as your lifestyle bouquet for all your senses to appreciate and enjoy daily. Feng Shui Chic combines the traditional ancient art with a modern day approach. This is the formula of how feng shui evolves and through your participation, so can you.

Reading this, some of you are feng shui advocates, while others may be venturing and exploring this wonderful lifestyle for the very first time. If you are a novice, pat yourself on the back for seeking something new, and for the embraced feng shui experts – enjoy!

Feng shui is a unique system for self empowerment. The balance of the Elements as Wood, Fire, Metal, Earth and Water manifest energies to help you achieve your desired goals. Conversely, any element deficiencies can be “roadblocks” to personal success. As you create balance to your life, you can navigate your own personal routes with smooth sailings in every direction. My aim is to help you achieve this.

I often tell my clients that the season shows the reason and, late Fall and holiday season are the perfect starting points for your journey into feng shui. This is nature’s time of thanks and “abundance”, sow and you will reap. Mother earth provides us with a blanket of colors and munificent harvest, which allow us to enjoy her bounty more than any other time of year.

COLORs

White is the color associated with the Fall season and Metal element rules. We can boost your feng shui energy and Chic! with splashes of red, orange and green colors to reap their rewards. Use them on your holiday (and even everyday) tables, in your personal environment, in the home or at work and by choosing these vibrant hues in your wardrobe, and remember this holds true for women and men alike!

Best of all, you don’t have to amass a whole new set of clothes or furniture to benefit from the effects of Feng Shui Chic. For example, add a scarf to a suit, Fall patterns on napkins for your everyday table, or place a vivid Fall bouquet on your desk at work. This will help you to harvest the hues that kiss your life with the flavors and favors of Feng Shui Chic.

SCENTs

Bath-ScentsScent is a very important factor in our personal environment; it identifies us even before we enter a room. At the same time, fragrance can be magical in its ability to remove you from a stressful day, stimulating your spirits in one short whiff. What is your best seasonal scent? Spicy, woody aromas that welcome and nurture your soul or cinnamon, vanilla and (my personal favorite) sandalwood? Use these scents as shelf liners, sachets, candles and even sprays and soaps. The smells imparted by baked apples and homemade pies can also do much to warm the soul.

Remember, scent is much more than actual fragrance. It’s about the memories that those fragrances bring. Just as madeline biscuits reminded Proust of his warm and joyous boyhood, so too can a cherished scent remind you of the best times of your life.

NURTURING YOURSELF

According to Chinese lore, this time of year recognizes the internal and nurturing, so be sure to devote time for yourself and watch your spirit soar. My favorite way to do this is by creating a home spa in my bathroom and indulging in an abundance of scented candles along with a fragrant bath. The rhythmic sound of water in your tub becomes your sanctuary helping you soothe and relax your body and soul and refresh your mind – your “getaway”. Creating your own feng shui moments is a tribute to your soul and to yourself.

Best holiday wishes and enjoy “abundance”!

Blessings,
